Rules of Competition

Eligibility

  1. All carpenters and artisans who enjoy wooden furniture designs and production, regardless of the nationality, residence or employment, are welcome to sign up!
  2. The event is open to individuals and groups alike. There is no size limit to the number of members in group registrations, yet every member of the group must meet the event’s age eligibility requirement. Each group must designate one person as the primary contact to receive competition-related communications and collecting prize money on the group’s behalf.
  3. Individuals can register for the event either in their own name or as part of a group. However, no registrant, whether registering individually or as a member of the group, may present more than two submissions to the competition in total. The organizer reserves the right to revoke the eligibility of registrants found in violation of the requirement

Contestant Divisions

  1. Youth Category: Entrants 24 years old or younger as of the registration deadline, and those who were born on or after February 16, 2002; If the entrant is a group, all members must meet this criterion.
  2. General Category: Entrants who are 25 years old before the registration deadline and were born on or before February 15, 2002; If the entrant is a group of individuals, all members must meet this criterion.


※ When registering to take part in the competition, entrants are required to upload the photograph page of their passport. Those who are under 18 years of age on the final day of submission must also upload a letter of agreement signed by their legal representative or guardian.【Brochure Addendum2】

Criteria

(1) Youth Category:
● Innovativeness 50% Pieces made of unconventional materials and of aesthetically-pleasing, innovative designs.
● Technicality 20% A compelling statement of structure, material, user-safety, durability, dependability, and a beautiful marriage of traditional and modern techniques, styles and concepts.
● Practicality 20% The piece must be compatible with user’s space planning, that it fits seamlessly into his/her lifestyle.
● Sustainability 10% Submissions that are conceptually sustainable, and characterized by locally sourced, renewable, or environmentally friendly materials.  

(2) General Category:
● Innovativeness 40% Pieces made of unconventional materials and of aesthetically-pleasing, innovative designs
● Technicality 20% A compelling statement of structure, material, user-safety, durability, dependability, and a beautiful marriage of traditional and modern techniques, styles and concepts.
● Practicality 30% The piece must be compatible with user’s space planning, that it fits seamlessly into his/her lifestyle.
● Sustainability 10% Submissions that are conceptually sustainable, and characterized by locally sourced, renewable, or environmentally friendly materials.  

Winning Pieces Exhibition

Entrants with prizewinning pieces must cooperate with the museum’s winning pieces exhibition, held in conjunction with the “2027 Daxi wood Life Festival” (provisional name)
