• All carpenters and artisans who enjoy wooden furniture designs and production, regardless of the nationality, residence or employment, are welcome to sign up!
• The event is open to individuals and groups alike. There is no size limit to the number of members in group registrations, yet every member of the group must meet the event’s age eligibility requirement. Each group must designate one person as the primary contact to receive competition-related communications and collecting prize money on the group’s behalf.
• Individuals can register for the event either in their own name or as part of a group. However, no registrant, whether registering individually or as a member of the group, may present more than two submissions to the competition in total. The organizer reserves the right to revoke the eligibility of registrants found in violation of the requirement.

• Youth Category: Entrants 24 years old or younger as of the registration deadline, and those who were born on or after February 16, 2002; If the entrant is a group, all members must meet this criterion.
• General Category: Entrants who are 25 years old before the registration deadline and were born on or before February 15, 2002; If the entrant is a group of individuals, all members must meet this criterion.

※ When registering to take part in the competition, entrants are required to upload the photograph page of their passport. Those who are under 18 years of age on the final day of submission must also upload a letter of agreement signed by their legal representative or guardian.【Brochure Addendum2】

• Submitted entries must be original works that have never been previously entered into any other competition nor commercialized. Also, prior to the release of the award winners list, entrants are not to market their submissions for profit, or publish, display, or publicize the submissions in any form, whether physically or online.
• Material
  The entry must be made from wood, though the design can also include other materials or mixed media.
• Form
  Submissions can be individual pieces or a grouping of pieces.
• Dimensions
  The sum of the length, width and height of the shipping container/packaging must not exceed 500 centimeters; for individual pieces or a grouping of pieces, the total volume must not be smaller than 27,000 cubic centimeters, and the length of any side of the piece must not be shorter than 30 centimeters.  Entries not compliant with the dimension specifications will not be accepted.
• Accessories
  If the entries include any decorations or accessories not made by the participating artist, a detailed notation must be added.

▼Taiwan-produced Lumber: Use and Application▼

• Application
  If the entrant wishes to use Taiwan’s domestic timber for the submission, he/she must follow the guidelines to request supply from the Forestry and Nature Conservation Agency under the Ministry of Agriculture, Hsinchu Branch (the Hsinchu Branch hereinafter) for prototyping; those who have not requested supply may purchase Taiwan’s domestic timber on their own for use.
• Timber species supplied and specifications
  Three Taiwan-sourced timber species will be supplied for the program—Japanese cedar, China fir and Taiwania (Taiwan Cedar), in a total of eight dimension-lumber specifications. See Addendum 13 for specifics.
• Application and Submission
  Entrants requiring Taiwan-sourced timber must complete the timber request field on the online registration form on the official website. Those who have received the supply must fill out Addendum 12 and submit it together with their prototyping submission during the second-round review.
• Supply allocation and delivery
  For entrants whose submissions have passed the first-round review, and have also applied for Taiwan-sourced timber, the timber species and amount to be allocated will be processed as what is announced on the official website. All the Taiwan-sourced timber supply will be provided by shipping exclusively. Each competing group may designate only one shipping address and may not have the timber supply split and sent to multiple addresses.
• Special Award for Creative Excellence in Taiwan Domestic Timber
  This award is instituted for entrants who use Taiwan’s domestic timber in the submissions, and specify the scope and utilization ratio accordingly (e.g.: supporting documentation produced by entrants who self-bought Taiwan’s domestic timber for their submissions). The Hsinchu Branch may choose outstanding entries for receiving this award based on merit. See 11 of these guidelines.

  ● Innovativeness　50%　Pieces made of unconventional materials and of aesthetically-pleasing, innovative designs.
  ● Technicality　20%　A compelling statement of structure, material, user-safety, durability, dependability, and a beautiful marriage of traditional and modern techniques, styles and concepts.
  ● Practicality　20%　The piece must be compatible with user’s space planning, that it fits seamlessly into his/her lifestyle.
  ● Sustainability　10%　Submissions that are conceptually sustainable, and characterized by locally sourced, renewable, or environmentally friendly materials.  

• (2) General Category：
  ● Innovativeness　40%　Pieces made of unconventional materials and of aesthetically-pleasing, innovative designs
  ● Technicality　20%　A compelling statement of structure, material, user-safety, durability, dependability, and a beautiful marriage of traditional and modern techniques, styles and concepts.
  ● Practicality　30%　The piece must be compatible with user’s space planning, that it fits seamlessly into his/her lifestyle.
  ● Sustainability　10%　Submissions that are conceptually sustainable, and characterized by locally sourced, renewable, or environmentally friendly materials.  

• Entrants with prizewinning pieces must cooperate with the museum’s winning pieces exhibition, held in conjunction with the “2027 Daxi wood Life Festival” (provisional name)
