About DFCD
Daxi International Wood Furniture Craft and Design Competition
Woodworking in Daxi, a quaint, colorful small town of Taoyuan, can be traced back to the 19th century, signifying the timelessness of this cultural heritage. It flourished into a robust industrial chain, spanning raw materials production, stock treatment, design and customization: it’s now a community staple, a legacy of brilliance.
The Daxi Wood Art Ecomuseum of Taoyuan City was established as a platform to support cultural exchange programs and artistic creations. It is committed to upholding Daxi’s woodworking heritage and promoting the community brandscape as “the Stronghold of Daxi Arts and Crafts.”
In continuing the spirit of the Competition, the Ecomusuem will once again work to headline the fusion and modernistic innovation processes of Taiwan’s wood art technics, inspiring artists to unleash their creative juice, design aspirations and multimedia applications, exploring the extraordinary possibilities of wooden furniture development, thus manifesting the value of artisan culture and innovation to instill new momentum into the wood art industries.
