Public Special Traditional Award|Wude Chair

:::

In 1935, Martial Arts Dojo, Daxi was completed in Daxi, accompanying the people of Daxi for nearly 90 years, including my own personal history. I often heard my father talk about his childhood stories of living with his parents in a Japanese-style dormitory. Influenced by these stories, when deciding to design a chair that embodies the essence of Daxi, the first image that came to mind was that of Martial Arts Dojo, Daxi. The architectural proportions of Martial Arts Dojo, Daxi are meticulously crafted, with the most captivating feature being the design of the main roof in the "irimoya" style. The top beam and armrest of the Wude Chair are inspired by its posture. The wooden structure beneath the armrest and backrest resembles the roof's intricate detailing while also providing ergonomic support. The design of the chair cushion allows for different materials to be used, and the original rush cushion was intended to evoke the historical context of Martial Arts Dojo, Daxi, letting you experience the scent of history intertwined with the aroma of rush.
