Eligibility

  • Anyone with an interest in the design and manufacture of wood furniture can participate in the competition.
  • Individuals or groups can sign up to take part, there is also no limit to the size of participating groups, though one person must be selected named to serve as the main contact point.
  • Individuals can sign up to take part both in their own name, and or as part of a group, with no limit to the number of works that can be submitted.

Contestant Divisions

  • Youth: Entrants 24 years old or younger before the final submission date, and those who were born on or after February 4, 2000; If the entrant is a group, all members must meet this criterion.
  • Society Category: Entrants who are 25 years old before the final submission date and were born on or before February 3, 2000.; If the entrant is a group of individuals, all members must meet this criterion.

※ When registering to take part in the competition, entrants are required to upload the photograph page of their passport. Those who are under 18 years of age on the final day of submission must also upload a letter of agreement signed by their legal representative or guardian.【Brochure Addendum1】

Entry Specifications

  • Submitted entries must be original, that have been previously entered into any other competition nor commercialized.
  • The entry must be made from wood, though the design can also include other materials or mixed media.
  • Submissions can be single pieces or combinations of pieces. In terms of the dimension and delivery of work, the maximum length, width and height of the piece shall not exceed 500cm in total. Entries that exceed this limit will not be accepted.
  • If the entries include any decorations or accessories that were not made by the participating artist/group these must be clearly stated.
  • ▼Taiwan-produced Lumber: Use and Application▼
  •  If the entrant uses Taiwan-grown lumber for his/her submission and needs to request supply from the Forestry and Nature Conservation Agency under the Ministry of Agricul-ture, Hsinchu Branch (Hsinchu Branch hereinafter) for sample work, the entrant must check the box by “Taiwan-grown lumber” on the application form posted on the official website (no box-check necessary if not applicable).
  • To entrants whose submissions are made with Taiwan-produced lumber supplied by Hsinchu Branch, and have passed the first round of evaluation, the amount of lumber you can appy for-free that has been approved, will be announced on the official website of the competition. Please fill out Addendum 11 and pick up the lumber on the designated date and location.
  • To entrants who purchase Taiwan-produced lumber, and that the lumber has been recog-nized to meet the criteria of Certified Agricultural Standards (CAS), Traceable Agricultural Products (TAP) or the “Taiwan Wood Traceability QR Code.” If applicable, you can attach supporting documentation of the lumber used when you submit your application for the second round of evaluation.

    Innovativeness:50% Pieces made of unconventional materials and of aesthetically-pleasing, innovative designs

    Technicality:30% A compelling statement of structure, material, user-safety, durability, dependability, and a beautiful marriage of traditional and modern techniques, styles and concepts.

    Practicality:20% The piece must be compatible with user’s space planning, that it fits seamlessly into his/her lifestyle.

  • Society Category

    Innovativeness:50% Pieces made of unconventional materials and of aesthetically-pleasing, innovative designs

    Technicality:20% A compelling statement of structure, material, user-safety, durability, dependability, and a beautiful marriage of traditional and modern techniques, styles and concepts.

    Practicality:30% The piece must be compatible with user’s space planning, that it fits seamlessly into his/her lifestyle.

    Marketability:20% The piece presents great marketability and mass production potential

Winning Pieces Exhibition

  • Entrants with prizewinning pieces must cooperate with the museum’s winning pieces exhibition, held in conjunction with the “2025 Daxi Craft Week” (provisional name)
